Folding bench
A practical picnic table with a folding bench, ideal for easier access and flexible use of the available space.
A custom-made picnic table is designed around the available space, the number of seats required and the look you want for your garden, terrace, hospitality venue or business environment. From a robust picnic table in reclaimed or scaffolding wood to a heavy-duty version made from solid Douglas fir beams, with fixed or folding benches and classic or modern lines: at Dutchwoodcraft, you choose the dimensions, wood type and finish.

The designs below show how different a picnic table can be. Length, width, table height, seat height, wood type, beam size, base construction and bench layout can all be tailored to your space and intended use.

A practical picnic table with a folding bench, ideal for easier access and flexible use of the available space.

A robust custom-made design with a strong appearance and a particularly solid timber construction.

Clean lines and a contemporary design for gardens, terraces, hospitality venues and business settings.
A garden table or picnic table is best judged in a real outdoor setting. In our garden table lookbook, we present completed tables in different sizes, woods, base constructions, colours and styles. This gives you a clear impression of the freedom that custom work offers and which design best suits your garden or terrace.
For cushions used indoors and outdoors, the fabric plays an important role in both comfort and appearance. We work with outdoor fabrics from brands such as Sunbrella and Sunproof. Both brands offer many options for seat cushions, back cushions, lounge cushions and other made-to-measure cushions, with differences in look, collection and price level.
Looking for waterproof fabric or an extra moisture-resistant finish? Several options are possible. Because not every fabric has the same properties, we advise you based on how the cushions will be used.

Sunbrella is often chosen for its luxurious appearance, extensive colour range and premium finish. Its collections make it possible to coordinate cushions precisely with the furniture, garden, veranda or interior.

Sunproof is an excellent choice if you want a colourfast outdoor fabric with an attractive price-quality ratio. The collections include a wide range of plains, patterns and textures for many different custom cushion applications.
For a particularly premium result and a very extensive collection, we often recommend Sunbrella. If you are looking for a strong outdoor fabric in a more accessible price range, Sunproof offers many possibilities. Other brands are also available. In our showroom, you can compare different brands, qualities and textures side by side.
The comfort of a custom-made cushion depends on more than just thickness. The type of foam, firmness, elasticity and overall construction determine whether the seat feels firm, lounge-like or particularly soft and deep.
We work with different high-resilience foams that are elastic, shape-retaining and available in several firmness levels and qualities. They are suitable for both firmer seat cushions and comfortable lounge cushions.
We also use polyether in different densities and firmness levels. This can be a good solution when a cushion needs to feel softer or when a simpler build-up is sufficient.
Many other combinations are possible. The right choice always depends on cushion thickness, desired seating height, seat depth and the way the furniture will be used.
An 8 cm cushion requires a different composition from a generous 12 or 15 cm lounge cushion. A straight bench, a deep lounge set or a garden chair also place different demands on the foam.
For back cushions, softer fillings are often more comfortable. Our loose back cushions can, for example, be filled with foam flakes so they adapt more easily to the body.
Comfort is created by the complete combination: foam, thickness, dimensions, backrest angle, available depth and even the selected fabric.
If you are unsure between different firmness levels, we recommend trying them. In our showroom in Neede, you can test different seating comforts before your custom cushions are made.
This prevents you from choosing purely on numbers: foam described as medium-firm or firm can feel very different depending on thickness and the overall cushion construction.
A picnic table is difficult to choose from photos alone. In our showroom, you can see and compare different wood types, finishes, beam sizes and constructions. This gives you a much better impression of the proportions, appearance and solidity of the furniture.
If possible, bring the available dimensions, the desired number of seats and a few photos of the location. We can then advise you directly on length, width, bench arrangement, wood type and finish.
Every location and every use is different. That is why we start with the available space, the required number of seats and the desired style rather than a standard size.
We look at the available length and width, walking routes, terrace layout and any positioning under a veranda or covered area.
We determine the wood type, construction, heights, bench layout, colour and, if desired, matching cushions.
The picnic table is made to measure and carefully finished in our own workshop.
We deliver according to our route planning. If assembly is included in the order, we place the picnic table at the agreed location.
A custom-made picnic table is a practical and attractive solution for a garden, terrace, veranda, hospitality venue, school or business setting. At Dutchwoodcraft, we do not start with a standard table that then has to be adjusted: length, width, tabletop height, seat height, bench width and construction are defined from the outset around your space and the number of seats required.
A scaffolding wood picnic table is one of the most popular options. This timber, also often described as reclaimed wood or rustic construction timber, gives the furniture a robust and authentic character. It works well in both rural gardens and contemporary outdoor settings. Because each table is made to measure, we can create anything from a compact design to an extra-large picnic table for many guests.
For a warmer wood tone and a more substantial appearance, Douglas fir is an excellent alternative. A Douglas fir picnic table combines a natural look with a strong outdoor construction. Douglas fir changes naturally over time and can also be finished in different ways depending on the desired look.
We also build picnic tables from solid Douglas fir beams. The large beam sections give the furniture an especially robust, premium appearance. This type of table is very suitable for large terraces, spacious gardens, hospitality venues and professional environments where the furniture is intended to make a strong visual statement.
Ease of use is just as important as appearance. A picnic table with a folding bench makes access easier, particularly when the table is long or positioned in a space where people need to get in and out comfortably. Depending on the design, one or more benches can be made foldable.
Looking for a modern picnic table? Custom production makes it possible to work with cleaner lines, a contemporary base and more refined proportions. Both scaffolding wood and Douglas fir can therefore be used in a modern design without losing the warm character of timber.
For larger families, groups and companies, we can make an extra-large picnic table for 8, 10 or more people. We adapt the tabletop length, leg position and construction so that there is enough legroom and the table remains stable over its full length.
Our picnic tables for hospitality and business use can be designed for more intensive use. We take into account the number of users, the location, the required stability and delivery access. For commercial projects, several matching tables in the same finish are also possible.
The choice between reclaimed wood, scaffolding wood and Douglas fir mainly depends on the look you prefer. Scaffolding wood has a rougher, more weathered appearance, while Douglas fir naturally has a warmer colour and is particularly suitable for heavier, more solid constructions. We can show you the differences in our showroom.
Dimensions are fully customisable. Whether you need a narrow picnic table for a limited passageway, an extra-long version for a large terrace or a table with very specific proportions, we design the complete piece rather than changing length alone.
The finish can also be adapted. Depending on the wood type and the appearance you want, different oils, stains or protective finishes are possible. The result can be natural, grey-washed, darker or more contemporary while still retaining the character of the timber.
If you want extra comfort, we can also make custom seat cushions for picnic tables in our own sewing studio. Outdoor fabrics such as Sunbrella and Sunproof allow the cushions to be matched to the furniture and the rest of the outdoor setting.
Tables made from thick Douglas fir beams can be very heavy. For these projects, we therefore check access, the distance to the final position and placement options in advance. This helps prevent practical issues on delivery day.
All our tables are made in our own workshop. This in-house production allows us to create genuine custom wooden outdoor furniture and adapt the construction to the requested dimensions, number of seats and style of the project.
