We work with various types of cold foam. Cold foam is resilient, shape-retaining and available in different firmness levels and qualities, allowing it to be tailored to both firm seat cushions and comfortable lounge cushions.

We also work with polyether in different densities and firmness levels. Polyether can be a good choice for many applications, for example when a cushion may be slightly softer or have a simpler construction.

There are many more possibilities, including different foam qualities, combinations of materials and tailored constructions for specific situations. The right choice always depends on cushion thickness, desired seat height, seat depth and how the furniture will be used.

An 8 cm thick cushion requires a different construction from a generous 12 or 15 cm lounge cushion. A straight dining bench, deep lounge bench, window seat or garden chair also places different demands on support.

Softer fillings are often more comfortable for back cushions. Our loose back cushions, for example, can be filled with foam flakes so they feel supple and adapt more easily to the body.

Everything contributes to comfort: not only the foam itself, but also its thickness, cushion dimensions, the angle of the backrest, available seat depth and even the chosen fabric.

This prevents a choice being made on numbers alone. What is described on paper as medium-firm or firm can feel very different in practice depending on thickness and the complete cushion construction.

One of our characteristic materials is recycled wood. This robust wood has a natural, lived-in appearance and works particularly well for large garden benches, lounge seating and outdoor corner benches. In the Netherlands this material is known as steigerhout; in English it is sometimes described as scaffolding wood. On this page we mainly use recycled wood because it describes the look and character more naturally for an international audience.

A recycled wood corner bench can be designed in a traditional, contemporary or extra-robust style. Straight armrests create a clean and powerful shape, while angled armrests give the wooden bench a lighter profile. For more substantial furniture, we can create a Douglas fir beam corner bench with custom cushions. Solid wood, steel and outdoor fabric can be combined into one bespoke design, with both seat and back cushions made to measure in our own sewing studio.
