A custom reclaimed wood desk combines a warm, natural look with a workspace designed around the room itself. At The Dutchwoodcraft Company, you are not limited to standard dimensions: the length, depth, height, layout and finish can all be tailored to your space and the way you work.

Our reclaimed wood desks are made in our own workshop in the Netherlands. This allows us to take sloping walls, alcoves, limited circulation space, extra-wide worktops and compact working areas into account. The position of legs, drawers, cupboards and storage sections can also be planned around daily use.

For indoor use, the timber is carefully planed and dried to approximately 12% moisture content. This makes it far more stable than fresh construction timber while preserving visible grain, natural colour variation and character. Every wooden desk therefore has its own individual appearance.

A custom home office desk often needs more surface area than a standard writing desk. Space may be required for one or two monitors, a laptop, documents and accessories. A made-to-measure worktop lets you use the available wall width as efficiently as possible.

A custom corner desk is particularly useful when you want a large working surface without making the room feel overcrowded. The length of both sides, worktop depth and position of drawers or storage can be adapted to the exact layout of your office or study.

For a calmer workspace, a reclaimed wood desk with drawers can include drawer units, open compartments, cupboards or integrated cable space. Documents, chargers and office supplies remain close at hand without permanently covering the work surface.

Desk height has a major influence on everyday comfort. We can adapt the height to the user, the office chair and the intended use. A made-to-measure desk therefore offers much more flexibility than standard furniture when a conventional height is not practical or comfortable.

For children's rooms, we make custom reclaimed wood children's desks. Dimensions can be adapted to the child's age, the available space and the intended use. A children's desk can stay compact or be expanded with drawers, shelves, open compartments or additional storage.

A children's desk can also form part of a complete bedroom scheme. By repeating the same timber colour, proportions and detailing in a bed, wardrobe or other children's furniture, the room feels more balanced and less like a collection of separate items.

We also create custom reclaimed wood dressing tables. A dressing table can be designed as a simple worktop with legs, or with drawers, open compartments, space for a mirror and storage for cosmetics and personal accessories.

A custom dressing table is especially useful where the available wall width is limited or a niche requires precise dimensions. Height, depth and storage layout can be tailored to the bedroom and coordinated with existing furniture.

The finish has a major influence on the overall appearance of a reclaimed wood desk. Natural finishes keep the wood light and authentic, while grey wash, white wash and darker tones create a different atmosphere. Colours can be coordinated with an existing office, children's room or bedroom interior.

On request, we also make custom oak desks. Oak has a calmer, more refined grain and works particularly well in modern, natural and more luxurious interiors. Dimensions, drawers, storage and finish can be tailored in the same way.

A reclaimed wood or oak desk can be combined with cupboards, wall shelves, beds and other bespoke furniture. By repeating the same materials, proportions and colours, you create a coherent interior rather than a collection of unrelated pieces.
