Scaffolding Wood for outdoor use:

Originally, scaffold timber came directly from the scaffold and still contained the screws/nails/cement residues. Scaffolding wood is therefore spruce wood and not a separate type of wood. Nowadays, the wood is aged, which makes the boards more beautiful. Nevertheless, we can never rule out the possibility of irregularities in the boards, such as cracks/twists, resin stains and colour differences. Of course, we sand the wood properly. The untreated scaffolding wood has a brown, grey colour and is available in 3 and 4.5 cm. For outdoor use, we only use wood that has dried to 18% moisture content, which is ideal for making furniture. As it is dried back, there can be a difference in the width of the planks, it varies between 19.3 and 20 cm. Therefore, the width of the table tops will not be exactly the size that can be chosen. A table top of 100 cm is between 95 and 100 cm long.

 

Scaffolding Wood for interiors:

For indoor use, we use planed scaffold wood, which has a more beautiful effect. However, we can never rule out the possibility that there will be imperfections in the planks, such as cracks/twists, resin stains and colour differences. The untreated scaffold wood for indoor use has a brown colour and is available in 3 and 4.5 cm. This wood is further dried to 12% so the effects are minimal. As it is dried back, there may be a difference in the width of the planks, it varies between 19.3 and 20 cm. This means that the width of the table tops is not exactly the size that can be chosen. Scaffolding Wood general:

Below are some examples of what happens with scaffolding wood for both indoor and outdoor use. This complies with the standard and makes our furniture unique. Complaints are therefore not possible.

 

Douglas Wood:

Douglas wood is one of the hardest softwoods and therefore of better quality than scaffolding wood. We only use planed Douglas Wood that comes directly from the Black Forest. We dry the wood to kill the fungus in the wood. This means that you will not find any "green mould" in our products. Nevertheless, we cannot rule out cracks, knots, resin stains and colour differences in Douglas fir. Douglas fir wood has a yellow-orange colour, which makes it completely different from scaffolding wood. Over time, Douglas ages and cracks can appear in the wood.

 

No right of revocation or return:

If furniture is manufactured according to customer-specific requirements or customised for personal needs, there is no right of withdrawal or return for the consumer for this item.

 

Samples:

We offer the possibility to send you wood samples. Please note that wood is a natural product and may vary in colour and imperfections as described above. Therefore, you cannot lodge a complaint if the furniture deviates from the colour sample.

TREATMENT INSIDE

For indoor furniture, you can choose between a colour treatment (stain) and a protective treatment (lacquer).

Stain:

Untreated scaffold wood has a brown colour. This can be treated with a stain or opaque RAL colour. Stain is very moisture-regulating, allowing moisture to pass through the stain layer without damaging the paint. Stain is available in natural, white-wash and grey-wash which you can use to colour the scaffolding wood. In addition, we can also provide the wood with an opaque coating in any RAL colour.

Lacquer:

Lacquer forms a "top layer" over the wood, protecting it from moisture ingress. We recommend this protective layer for bathroom furniture and dining tables in particular. We use a matt, transparent lacquer so that the protective layer is as invisible as possible. Please note that lacquer does not protect against substances such as acetone (nail polish remover).

 

OUTDOOR TREATMENT

We recommend that our outdoor furniture is treated with an oil. This oil has been specially developed for our outdoor furniture made of scaffold wood. Besides making the wood more resistant to weathering, it also extends the life of the furniture. If the furniture has been treated, you do not need to maintain it for the first two years. If you do maintain the furniture, you should lightly sand the sofa and treat it again with an oil. The furniture can also be treated with an opaque paint. Apart from the three standard colours that we offer, we can also treat the furniture with almost any other colour. The various treatments can be ordered per 1L and 2.5L.

In order to satisfy everyone's wishes, we offer the following treatments:

Natural oil:

The perfect neutral treatment for outside. The colour remains fairly similar to the untreated colour, it slightly brings out the colour of the natural wood. The oil contains a light grey pigment which remains visible on the knots of the wood. With repeated use / maintenance, the furniture will become greyer per treatment. The oil also ensures that the wood is better protected against weather and extends the life.

White wash oil:

A non-covering treatment in which the colour of the chosen type of wood still comes through a little. The wood grain and knots remain visible. White wash comes out best on old scaffolding wood. The oil also ensures that the wood is better protected against weather and extends the life.

Grey wash oil:

This is also a non-covering treatment in which the colour of the chosen type of wood still comes through a little. The wood grain and knots remain visible. The oil also ensures that the wood is better protected against weather influences and extends the life span.

RAL paint:

Opaque paint, silk gloss RAL colour. An opaque treatment suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. When used outside, the furniture will need to be re-treated more quickly than with oil, especially the flat parts are subject to weathering.
